How do we feed a city sustainably? This was the question we were asked in our latest brief. I studied the Cuban model and the struggle they have had recent years with the Soviet Union withdrawing all imported goods. Cuba has had to grow its own produce, successfully for a brief spell aswell. There are things to be learnt from this 'failed' model though. My solution, stacked vertical farms which are controlled regionally. The image is focusing on the political influence, how incentives and policies are needed to force change. The drive needs to initiate from the heirarchy and trickle into the very behaviour of society.
