Midge Hole Mill - ARCADIA

Novemeber 1st 2013 - January 17th 2014

The Midge Hole Mill project was brought to us by a real life client, the aim was to produce a small holiday house or apartments within the rural landscape of Foulridge, Lancashire. My concept revolved around the interaction of the two clients, even though they have completely seperate interests. How could it be possible to integrate the clients wishes with the most stringent carbon certification system on the planet, the Living Building Challenge....

Feed The City 4x4.1

October 3rd 2013

How do we feed a city sustainably? This was the question we were asked in our latest brief. Each of these factors contributed to the form and flow of the street in its current state. My model was an abstract intepritation of the timeline of Fishergate, each colour strand representsa different influence. They intertwine, wrap and reach surpass the ‘lifespan’ of Fishergate, for example, the cotton industry was a huge contributor to the success of Fishergate, but it was only because of the invention of the Spinning Jenny that helped contribute to this.

Future Thinking 4x4.4

October 24th 2013

I selected to develop how the futures would be determined by education and technology, using them as drivers for change in my proposal. I believe that the architectural industry will have a big role to play in the adaptability of the future, especially those in current architecture education. I decided to depict my proposal in the form of a comic strip, which I think was an effective method of displaying the narrative....
